Challenge yourself

We have all heard of this saying:

“If something that you’re doing doesn’t challenge you, then it doesn’t change you.”

One of the greatest things about life is that there is always room for improvement. As long as you keep challenging yourself by doing things outside of your normal comfort zone every now and then, you will continuously grow as a human being and learn new things in your life’s journey.

Every time that you challenge yourself it means BRAIN POWER — food for your brain. Challenging yourself allows your brain to work and expand to make room for new knowledge, situations, and experience. Challenging situations allow you to experience new things that might’ve been “unknown” to you or “untried” by you before. Thus, someone who likes to continuously keep themselves challenged become pretty interesting people, they are usually very well rounded and very knowledgeable.

Have you ever been in a room with a person who steals away the show and everyone is an awe of?

Have you ever been around a person who is so interesting that they inspire you?

— Surely they are probably sharing extraordinary stories or sharing their vast knowledge on a particular subject, or maybe their amazing vision, viewpoint, or philosophy in other areas. This is a good example of someone who isn’t afraid of challenges and probably even enjoys them because they see it as a form or way of self-improvement.  These individuals are pretty easy to spot on right away because they will always be interesting as human beings.

Challenging yourself allows you to be exposed to different situations or things that pull you out of your comfort zone, and gravitates you towards learning and growing in exchange.

If you want to see a noticeable improvement in your life then try and step outside of your comfort zone. Even when something is very difficult or you don’t know how to do it, try it anyways and work through it until you feel comfortable with the outcome.

For example, it’s like a child learning how to ride a bicycle. It’s challenging at first until the child learns how to do it. Once the child learns how to do it he/or she has then successfully challenged themselves to learn that new skill, thus making an improvement in their life. Now, let’s take the same situation where the child is too afraid of falling and decides not to step out of their comfort zone — the child will not learn this new skill because he/or she was afraid of the challenge.

When you don’t challenge yourself you miss out on great things in your life. Doors open up easier to those that are willing to put themselves out there and face challenging situations because it makes you a stronger person, thus making it easier for you to face the next challenging situation.
You can learn something new every single day of your life. Keep life interesting by doing those things that are difficult or uncommon to you and this will make you a stronger person both inside and out. The worst thing to experience in life is boredom, and life should be everything but boring — there is so much to see, so much to do, so much to learn.

Make it a goal of yours to try new things and go after your dreams. Do not fall prey to the “same-everyday-routine” or the daily grind that most of us get sucked into. It will suck your life away and you will feel trapped. Challenging yourself will keep your spirits alive and vibrant. You can challenge yourself in many different ways.

Challenge yourself to live a healthier lifestyle by maybe cutting down processed foods, or maybe to workout a little more often. Challenge yourself to learn a new language in your spare time, or to learn how to dance salsa. The ideas are endless. Find out what your interests are and pursue them.  The more you challenge yourself the more fulfilling your life will be and the happier you will be.

Remember to take on challenges that are healthy for you, do not try to do something that is impossible or that will wear you down. Set goals for yourself that are challenging yet still attainable. We all need a healthy dose of normal stress in our lives after all.
